The Creatures

“…we are mirrors to guide your future.  Each a gift to be opened and  shared...for there  may come a time of great danger, when humankind puts this Earth in peril...”

“This was the one who spoke to me... and led me to the remarkable plant, for which I am so well known,” he said, staring at one of the Polaroids of the 20 missing cards. “But you must keep that a secret. Can you imagine how Maldrick Dekker would mock me if he knew?”

“They’ve been found, the cards have been found!” exclaimed Alma, looking at the new logo CK Yang’ had just posted on his show.

Finally, CK agreed to show some of the Creatures on  his popular site…”Those aren’t the cards my ancestor Lizzie  found on the beach when she was a slave,” harumphed young LaToya. “These look brand new.”

“They spoke to me,” confided Mike to Alma, “and gave me the courage to be myself...see how they’re both boy and girl, balancing on the wire...”  “But why were they in your backyard buried in a slab of concrete?”

The Creature had taken hold of Alma...and was pulling her in, farther and farther. “Hebat?” a voice said.

“What goddess must you be,” asked the young boy. “You belong on the walls of the temple!”

Just then the earth quaked in a spasm of motion and everything in the room shook, including the kids who fell forward toward the map. They stretched out their hands to brace themselves and  landed squarely on the cards.

At first it looked like they were holding hands, but they were in a tug of war.

“I can hear their music,” exclaimed Shakir. “I need to play in their band!”

“No,” scolded his mother. “We are not going to Los Angeles.”

“Dear Ghost Lion, my master is deeply disappointed,” says Su. “Will you unlock your secrets so that he can realize his greatest happiness.”
